been slightly reduced, and application made for an additional

area of 9,840 square feet to the East of the Breakwater.

Some considerable time has now elapsed

since the original application was made, but there is no

objection to the scheme being carried into effect forthwith. The provisions of the Foreshores and Seabed Ordinance

(Ordinance No. 15 of 1901) have been complied with, and the

lessees of Quarry Bay Marine Lot 1 have transferred to the

lessees of Quarry Bay Marine Lot 2, such portion of the former lot, immediately in the rear of the proposed recl ama- -tion, as will be necessary for the construction of the additional shipbuilding berths.

I have therefore to request Your Lord-

-ship's covering authority for the grant of the area in question to Messrs. Butterfield and Swire, on the original conditions, modified only to the extent of permitting, under condition (e) a further 12 months (or 3 years in all) in which to complete the more extensive reclamation.
